Our person-centered approach emphasizes individualized care, community integration and customized employment, with the goal of empowering individuals to achieve both personal and economic independence.<\/p>\n<h2>Behavioral Support Services<\/h2>\n<p>Like all of Humanim\u2019s programs, our behavioral support services foster greater independence by equipping caregivers, individuals, and their families with tools and strategies to manage severely challenging or disruptive behaviors. These services are designed to promote community integration and personal growth, by allowing\u00a0individuals\u00a0to live in the least restrictive environment. Our team of licensed psychologists and professional staff are there to support individuals and caregivers through behavioral assessment, consultation, training and other supports.<\/p>\n<h2>Community Integration<\/h2>\n<p>Humanim\u2019s Day\u00a0Services and Personal Support Services offer transitional and rehabilitation support to individuals so that they can take an increasingly active role in their<i>\u00a0<\/i>community. Individuals create personal goals, learn skills, exercise independence, and participate in recreational activities within the community. Programming includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community based activities<\/li>\n<li>Volunteer opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Social, vocational, and life skills instruction<\/li>\n<li>Hobby and recreational supports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Employment Services<\/h2>\n<p>Our organization was founded on the belief that every human being has potential and that work is transformative. Our employment services therefore focus on matching an individual&#8217;s unique interests and skills to the hiring needs of employers. Once employed, our retention specialists continue to work with\u00a0individuals and employers to ensure job success, through case management, job coaching, advocacy, and other job supports. Services include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employment Discovery and Customization<\/li>\n<li>Job\u00a0Development<\/li>\n<li>Supported Employment<\/li>\n<li>Students to Employment Program (STEP), ages 18 &#8211; 21<\/li>\n<li>Pre-Employment Transition Services, ages 14 &#8211; 21<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>In-Home Supports<\/h2>\n<p>We offer residential and in-home support services to individuals with developmental and neurological disabilities, and acquired brain injuries, who need support within the home environment. Our services are designed to build independence so that individuals can continue to live, learn, and work in the community.<\/p>\n<h2>Personal Supports<\/h2>\n<p>Humanim\u2019s Personal Support Services works with over 125 consumers living independently in their homes by teaching a variety of daily living skills and opening the door to both community and peer integration. Our Direct Support Professionals work closely with families to ensure that the services we offer to our customers are tailored to the individual\u2019s unique situation.<\/p>\n<h2>Therapeutic Behavioral Services<\/h2>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) is a short-term program focused on helping children, youth, parents, and caregivers manage challenging behaviors utilizing short-term interventions to achieve measurable goals based on the needs of the child or teen and the family. Services are available for eligible individuals, up to the age of 21, who are diagnosed with a mental illness and\/or a developmental disability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">TBS can assist a child during a transition home from hospitalization or an out-of-home placement. TBS can also help individuals at risk of placement in a more restrictive environment or those returning from such a placement. Humanim provides these services in the following counties in Maryland: Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City &amp; County, Harford County, and Howard County.<\/p>\n<h2>Transportation<\/h2>\n<p>Humanim is proud to offer transportation services to\u00a0individuals in its Human Services programs who do not have access to a safe mode of transportation. Humanim\u2019s transportation vehicles are carefully regulated, and our transportation staff is highly trained in providing safe, inclusive, and comfortable transportation to all Humanim individuals. We are committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in transportation services on the basis of race, color, national origin, or limited English proficiency, consistent with Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
