Meet Jade, a cook and cafeteria assistant manager in the City Seeds kitchen at Edgewood, serving the <\/span>Freestate ChalleNGe Academy.<\/span><\/p>\n A Humanim employee since November 2022, Jade plans and cooks meals for more than 100 people, ensures everything is properly prepared and safe, and helps clean up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She finds fulfillment feeding people. <\/span>\u201cI love having the responsibility of making food and making sure everybody is satisfied. Cooking is something I\u2019ve been enjoying a lot,\u201d she says.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The young people in the Academy can be picky, but also open to new tastes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe kids, they always say, \u2018I don\u2019t like this, I\u2019m not used to this.\u2019 But they\u2019re open to trying new stuff. I honestly like hearing the feedback after serving the food. I like to know what I can do better to make the food taste better. I like having control, especially when the food comes out good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Jade enjoys the challenge of work and is eager to develop new skills and move up. \u201cYou could give me a job, and no matter what the job is, I\u2019ll find a way to make it something I enjoy. I won\u2019t complain about it. I\u2019m a really hard worker. When I like something, I put my all in it. I\u2019m very driven.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Outside of work, Jade\u2019s weakness is true crime stories. \u201cI really love true crimes. I watch that a lot. Whatever true crime video comes up, I\u2019ll watch them all day.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But mostly she\u2019s focused on caring for her young son, Ja\u2019mir, with trips to Chuck E. Cheese, bounce houses and Dave and Buster\u2019s. She also cherishes quiet moments with Ja\u2019mir. And as a former member of the all-county chorus, she loves to sing to him. \u201cI sing my son to sleep every night. I\u2019ve sung the ABC song to him since the day he came home. It\u2019s his good night song and he loves it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Jade values her job and the people she works with. \u201cI value the positivity the job brings into my life. It\u2019s something I cherish.
