\"Light<\/p>\n

This Developmental Disabilities Month, we\u2019re proud to introduce Jerry, who has been growing more confident, forming new relationships, and spreading positivity as a participant in our Behavioral Stabilization Unit (BSU).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jerry joined\u00a0Humanim\u2019s BSU\u00a0in 2025,\u00a0seeking\u00a0personalized support\u00a0and a setting where he could succeed. In the beginning, he spent most days quietly, since learning names and building trust with the team took time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keion, one of the behavioral technicians working with Jerry, noticed that he often arrived at the day program wearing sports-themed clothing. That observation led to regular conversations about sports, which helped Jerry feel more at ease. Football is his favorite, and he is an enthusiastic\u00a0Washington\u00a0Commanders\u00a0and\u00a0New England Patriots fan. He also enjoys baseball and basketball, following\u00a0and cheering for local teams.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, Jerry\u2019s favorite part of\u00a0being at\u00a0Humanim is socializing. He gets along well with his peers and has built strong friendships throughout the program. One of his favorite memories is attending the county fair with friends and enjoying fried Oreos. \u201cI see him becoming more comfortable with his peers and opening up with new participants to help them feel\u00a0comfortable,\u201d says Keion.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Jerry is eager to strengthen his community connections by volunteering and meeting new people.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
