This fall, Humanim was recognized for the seventh time in a row by CARF International for maintaining the highest level of quality in its disability services.<\/p>\n
The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities\u00a0(or CARF International)\u00a0is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services. Providers that meet the organization’s standards have demonstrated a commitment to being \u201damong the best available,\u201c according to CARF’s website.<\/p>\n
CARF accreditation\u2014which lasts three years\u2014is bestowed after a rigorous review process. Humanim has applied for and received the honor seven consecutive times\u2014for a total of 21 years of continuous accreditation.<\/p>\n
We’re also proud to announce that, for the fourth time in a row, Humanim has been awarded Standards for Excellence accreditation by Maryland Nonprofits.<\/p>\n
Standards for Excellence is a distinction given to organizations who have met a set of rigorous management, governance, financial and performance evaluation measures.<\/p>\n
“Standards for Excellence is a voluntary accreditation that Humanim seeks to ensure that we are meeting the highest standards of management,” said Chief Operating Officer Lori Somerville. “It’s a tremendous amount of work\u2014our work and policies are examined with a fine-tooth comb\u2014but we do it to ensure that we are constantly improving our processes.”<\/p>\n
Humanim first applied for and earned Standards for Excellence in 2001. This fourth award is a five-year accreditation, and will last until 2020.<\/p>\n
