Statewide Contract for Maryland Behavioral Support Services Partnership To Launch<\/h2>\n

Baltimore, MD (September 18, 2013)<\/strong>\u2014Humanim, The Arc of Southern Maryland, The Arc of Washington County and Somerset Community Services have been awarded the Statewide Behavioral Support Services contract to provide comprehensive Behavioral Support Services to Maryland residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The providers have formed the Maryland Behavioral Support Services Partnership, which will become effective October 1, 2013.<\/p>\n

\u201cHumanim is thrilled to be a member of the Statewide Partnership for Behavioral Support Services,\u201d said Cindy Plavier Truitt, Director of the Partnership and Chief Operating Officer of Humanim representing the Baltimore Metropolitan Region. \u201cAlong with the other partners, we believe this new approach will create enhanced support for families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We look forward to partnering with the Developmental Disabilities Administration on this new initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n

This historic Maryland Behavioral Support Services Partnership will create a uniform network of services that will increase the efficacy and efficiency of services that will improve the overall statewide quality of services.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to sharing resources and implementing best practices that lead to positive outcomes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities,\u201d said Harriet S. Yaffe, Executive Director of The Arc of Southern Maryland.<\/p>\n

The Arc of Southern Maryland is just one of the four partnership members that are each well-experienced regional providers of DDA-funded Behavioral Support Services.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Arc of Washington County is exceedingly pleased to be a part of this Behavioral Support Services team,\u201d said Troy Van Scoyoc, Executive Director of The Arc of Washington County. He continued: \u201cWe look forward to continuing our long history of providing this support throughout Western Maryland.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sandy Adkins, Executive Director of Somerset Community Services offered the following about this collaboration: \u201cSomerset Community Services is pleased that we will be able to continue our Behavioral Support Services for the Eastern Shore under our new partnership with Humanim.\u201d<\/p>\n

Humanim is especially encouraged that the Developmental Disabilities Administration is promoting collaboration and consistent support on a statewide level.<\/p>\n

The centralized partnership, under the administration of Humanim, will go into effect October 1, 2013, at which time the toll-free centralized intake number (1-888-374-3276) will go live, with service being offered 24-hours a day, 365 days a year.
